Had a great meeting! Moving forward

The Men’s Auxiliary of VFW 7119 is pleased to announce a "Fundraising Golf Outing" in support of Save Our Veterans, a local non-profit 501 (c)3 organization in support of Veterans.

 When:         Sunday, October 2, 2011, sign in at 11:30a.m
 Shotgun Start at 12:30pm.           
                               Where:       Fort Harrison State Park Golf Course
                               Cost:          $85.00 per person or $340.00 for a foursome
                               Includes:  Golf with cart, range balls, prizes and dinner at VFW 7119 on Lee Road

Singles are welcome.  Please include an email address for the golfers.  Any questions contact Mel Cox at 652-1783.    

Entry deadline is Friday, September 16th, 2011

Invitation to Join as a Sponsor

Title Sponsor of Event.  A $1,000 donation includes name on all flyers and mailers related to this event, banner at event, a foursome for the outing and included in the announcements at the golf course. (Whiskey Business)

Hole Sponsorship.  A $100 donation will provide for a sign placed on the tee box of a hole on the golf course.

Cart Sponsorship.  A $50 donation will provide for a sign placed on the side of a golf cart used in the outing.

 Donations of gift cards or any merchandise would be a terrific addition to our prize give-aways. 

In accordance with IRS regulations, any contributions you should decide to make are fully tax deductible.

The tournament begins at 12:00pm with a shotgun start and includes golf and dinner held at VFW 7119 on Lee Roads following tournament.

Get Involved!

You may be a runner. A volunteer. Or an activist. But however you choose to get involved, just know that everything you do makes a difference. After all, without the support of people like you, we know homelessness won’t end for our Veterans and their families. Save Our Veterans strives to empower Veterans towards self-sufficiency and growth.  Homelessness is still impacting far too many of our loved ones. So, how will you get involved?

Every day, people of all ages lend their time and talents to help the community through Save Our Veterans. Volunteers serve at all levels of the organization: Housing rehab projects, IT support, Marketing, Outreach activities and Performing office duties.

If you have talents to share, time to lend, and the dedication to help others in need, consider the job descriptions below.

Dear: Opra:
My name is Michael Harvey I am the fifth son of Robert and Ruby Harvey, my mothers’ maiden name is Miles. My mothers’ sisters maiden name is Lillian Miles who later married Burt Winfrey your brothers father which makes us cousins. When I was young (I am now 53) we used to go to Chicago and visit Uncle Burt and Aunt Lillian on a regular basis; we’ve met, but I’m not sure you remember me.
I was in the U.S. Navy for 2 years, and afterward I worked in the heating and air conditioning business until most recently when the housing industry took a turn for the worse, and consequently I found myself homeless. Like MOST of America, I never thought it could happen to me!
But after being homeless and jobless for over 12 months, I was finally directed to a program that has been helping homeless Veterans get jobs! Save Our Veterans opened a call center offering jobs and training to over 50 homeless Veterans (just like me) from February 15, to March 15 2010.
My hope is that you will help “get the word out” to the entire NATION about our important program. We have over 700,000 homeless veterans in America, with MANY being women with dependants (some whom are victims of domestic violence) and in order for us to remedy the problem, we are going to need to help and support of the entire nation!

Save Our Veterans hopes that you are as dedicated to Saving Our Veterans as we are! Your ability to bring awareness to our mission will help to resurrect the Hopes and Dreams of me and my fellow homeless Veterans.

whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine,
you did for me.’

Your heartfelt attention to our mission will be received with humble appreciation. Because when we experienced the pain of hunger and homelessness, we met the Lord.

The Lord replied, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests,
but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”
